John Mousinho receiving his Eric White
Memorial Trophy
for 2007 after the Wycombe match.
|
The Club was formed in November 1990,
largely due the efforts of the late Eric White who at the time was the
Brentford Matchday Programme Editor. The main purpose of the Club is to
enable members to fill gaps in their programme collections and at the
same time raise money for the Football Club. Since 1990 the club has
raised approximately £55,000 for the Football Club.
We started sponsoring the programme back in
2003 and usually sponsor the last home match in March donating the funds
that we have raised during the year. This year we are handing over a
cheque for £3,500 which is the highest amount we have raised since we
started sponsoring the programme.
Membership is just £15 for adults and £5 for
Juniors. As an incentive to attract Junior members we are offering 10
free programmes (not this season) to every new Junior member. We have
regular meetings to discuss issues and sell programmes that we have
recently acquired. Membership also entitles you to 10% off old programme
purchases from the Programme Shop (now situated next to the Press
Room just past the entrance to the paddock in Braemar Road). So
don’t waste time BECOME A MEMBER TODAY. Call into the shop after
the game and join up. You will receive a friendly welcome from Alan,
Steve and I or you can write for details to Dick Rattray, P.O
Box 348, 85A Bury Road, Hemel Hempstead, Herts, HP3 0LN.
YOUR HELP
IS REQUIRED
WE NEED ANY OF YOUR PRE 1960 PROGRAMMES THAT
ARE GATHERING DUST IN THE LOFT SO THAT WE CAN SELL THEM TO MAKE EVEN
MORE MONEY FOR BRENTFORD FC.
Alan, Steve and I would like to say a big
thank you to all our customers for their continued support and a big
thank you to all those people who have donated programmes during the
last year. A special thank you to Dave Carter, the kit man, for his help
in passing on unwanted current seasons away programmes in particular and
also ensuring that programmes the Club purchases arrive back at Griffin
Park, it is much appreciated Dave.
The last 15 years have seen the Club achieve
various goals. A book called Griffin Park Collectables, known as the
bible, was produced and is now in the process of being updated. It
contains a definitive list of all home programmes issued from 1946-47
until 1994-95 and is still available from the Programme Shop.
We also now run a
subscription service to enable members to purchase away programmes,
details of which appear on the next page. If you are interested in this
for next season please come along to the shop for more details.
The Eric White Memorial Trophy is presented
annually and is voted for by the members of the Club. It goes to the
player who in their opinion has given the best individual performance in
a match during the season. In 2007 it was John Mousinho who was
presented with his trophy after the Wycombe match, for his goalkeeping
prowess against Gillingham at home and last year it was won by Nathan
Elder for his performance at Morecambe. His trophy is yet to be
presented.
